The Throne Building and Park

The Throne Building

The statue of Maitreya Buddha will be seated on a traditional throne which will form a public building equivalent in height to 17-storeys. The throne building will contain temples, meditation halls, teaching facilities and exhibition spaces.

Upon entering the throne building, visitors will find the Maitreya Temple which will hold4,000 people and will be used for public events such as Buddhist teachings and services. The focus of the Maitreya Temple will be a 40ft / 12m bronze Maitreya statue surrounded by a further 100,000 small statues of Maitreya Buddha filling the walls around it.

From the main atrium, elevators will convey visitors up to the large Shakyamuni Buddha Temple (pictured below), other shrine rooms, and rooftop terraced gardens.

On up into the higher levels within the body of the statue will be shrine rooms dedicated to other Buddhas and Buddhist saints including:

At the heart level of the Maitreya statue will be a shrine containing precious relics of the Buddhas and other spiritual masters from around the world.

Outside, the lower portion of the throne building will be engraved with prayers and relief panels of the One Thousand Buddhas of This Fortunate Eon. There will be eight carved snow lions, each 12m high, adorning the corners.

The Park

At the entrance to the park there will be a large statue of the Laughing Buddha, considered to be an emanation of Maitreya Buddha in the Chinese tradition of Buddhism.

There will be quiet footpaths and hospitality facilities for pilgrims and travellers. Parklands will feature stupas, prayer wheels and sculptures depicting the past life stories of Shakyamuni Buddha.

There will be 100,000 stupas lining the paths. In more secluded areas of the landscaped park, there will be quiet pools and fountains encircling statues of various Buddhas and a host of other pavilions and quiet groves in which to contemplate.
