Future Plans

Further developments proposed for Bodhgaya include:

additional primary schools in areas of high need.
a senior secondary school.
vocational training facilities including art and craft workshops.
teacher training facilities with volunteer staff accommodation.

Education in Bodhgaya, Bihar

Over the next few years the school will develop on the current site and facilities will be developed to meet the growing needs of the community. Enrolments on this site are expected to stabilise at around 500 students. Teachers will be trained at this school to meet the needs of new developments in both Bodhgaya and Kushinagar (see below).

Education in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh

The Maitreya Education Project intends to extend education provision to Kushinagar and plans have been prepared for the opening of a primary school there as soon as circumstances allow. In the longer term it is envisaged that provision in Kushinagar will develop along similar lines to Bodhgaya with primary, secondary and vocational education being progressively introduced.
