Maitreya Education Project provides free education to village children from poor families in northern India. The unique curriculum emphasising ethical development as well as academic achievement covers primary, secondary and vocational education.
In Bodhgaya, the place of the Buddha's enlightenment in Bihar state, the Maitreya Universal Education School with 500 pupils from Kindergarten to Class 12 is already well established.
In Kushinagar, the place where the Buddha passed away in Uttar Pradesh state, similar schools will be built.
